Las Vegas: The Gift Shop at The Delano Las Vegas is No ‘Automat’ But It’s Far From Basic

Morgans Hotels are rather infamous for their gift shop offerings such as the kinky vending machine at the Mondrian South Beach called “Automat” which once sold (or maybe still does) 24-karat gold handcuffs from Kiki de Montparnasse. The automat also sold rentals for premium luxury cars like a Rolls Royce or a Benz.

When the machine made its debut at the Hudson Hotel in New York, it sold an $ 8,000 photo shoot with photographer Ben Watkins and a rental of a red Ferrari 599 GTB.

Atlantic City: It’s the End of Atlantic City as We Know It as Three Casinos Begin Their Closures

Today’s the day, although it’s not a day we should really be excited about.

The Revel Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, which cost $ 2 billion to build and only opened two years ago, is closing today. Here’s a statement on the hotel’s website regarding the logistics of the closure. Guests were actually checked out of the hotel yesterday at 11am. No late check-outs! Although, apparently there was a fire alarm that went off at 1am but the nigthclubs at the hotel partied on, mostly filled with employees. Here’s an excellent article on the last hours of the casino. Below are our photo galleries from when we first went inside Revel.

Miami Beach: It’s Time To Book Your Room at The Miami Beach EDITION, Opening in January

Ladies and Gents, pull out your credit cards. The Miami Beach Edition is now taking reservations.

We got the email alert in our inbox today (although it was announced on Facebook yesterday) and quickly clicked over to the site. There we discovered that while the hotel will “premiere” in November, rooms aren’t actually available until January 19, 2015. Rates on that opening Monday start at $ 579 a night for a standard king room. Someone pass us the smelling salts.
